The first missionary religious congregation for women in the history of the Church and the world is the Institute of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary founded in 1877 by BL. Mary of the Passion, now in the 139th year of its course.

Franciscan in its essence.
Missionary in its services
Mary - like in its approach.

» Dedicated to universal mission

» Seek strength from the Eucharist

» And offer ourselves in challenging services

"The mystery of salvation is actualized in the Eucharist: from our Eucharistic celebration and adoration springs the contemplative and missionary dynamism of our whole life.” Const.Art 3

The strength to live this self-offering is drawn from the Holy Eucharist, offered, adored and contemplated every day . For Mary of the Passion, the Eucharist is the "fountain” which alone can quench our thirst for God, the irreplaceable spring of strength and love which makes us available for service and the inevitable trials of the missionary life. The Eucharistic sacrifice was the peak moment of the day, followed by the Eucharistic adoration and through the prolongation of this, the Franciscan Missionary of Mary fulfills her self - offering and her communion with God.
