The first missionary religious congregation for women in the history of the Church and the world is the Institute of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary founded in 1877 by BL. Mary of the Passion, now in the 139th year of its course.

Franciscan in its essence.
Missionary in its services
Mary - like in its approach.

» Dedicated to universal mission

» Seek strength from the Eucharist

» And offer ourselves in challenging services

"Our charism, which God confided to Mary of the Passion, commits us to follow Christ as He gave himself up to the Father for the salvation of the world." Constitutions Art. 2

Self -offering remains the primary foundation of our whole spirituality and this integrates and unifies all the other elements. Mary of the Passion recommends us to live this self-surrender as ‘strong and peaceful’ women. It is the deep contemplation of Christ that fortifies us with courage and strengthens to respond to the love of the Lord, even to the point of laying down our life for others.
