The first missionary religious congregation for women in the history of the Church and the world is the Institute of the Franciscan Missionaries of Mary founded in 1877 by BL. Mary of the Passion, now in the 139th year of its course.

The logo Symbolises the elements of our Charism
Marian The Banner bears the Latin Inscription - Ecce Ancilla Domini meaning, Behold the Handmaid of the Lord. It conveys the spirit in which each fmm lives her life.
Eucharistic The Monstrance depicted at the Centre of the Seal says that the Eucharist (The bread broken and Shared) is the centre of the life of every fmm.
Missionaries The Sea denotes the Voyages and challenges that a missionary would undertake.
Franciscan The Tau, the symbol that St. Francis used as his signature, now stands as a symbol for a Franciscan.
