Sister Gertrude Rodrigues

Sister Gertrude RODRIGUES (M. of St. Felan) passed away on 18th July 2017 at 7.35 a.m. in Rosary Convent, Hyderabad, Telangana. Sr. Gertrude was suffering with High Blood Pressure, Diabetes and was confined to bed since last two years. The sisters looked after her with much love and attended to her needs during her ailment. She was conscious and was able to recognize sisters when they visited her, Sr. Gertrude was happy to meet Sr. Theresa Thomas (provincial) who spent some precious moments with her during her last days. On the 17th July Sr. Gertrude’s condition deteriorated and she went into coma. While the community sisters were around her praying the Lord called Sr. Gertrude home on 18th July to her heavenly abode.

Sr. Gerturde was simple, humble, happy and a jovial person. She was affectionate, kind hearted, thoughtful, generous and self – giving always ready to reach out to people in need. She was friendly and sociable, compassionate towards the poor and loved to help them. As an animator she loved the community sisters, was hard working, unassuming and ever willing to serve others.  She loved children as many years she served in the Crèche and Boarding in Delhi province and in sold stationery to children in Rosary, Hyderabad.

She was a prayerful, committed and had deep faith in God.  She lived her FMM life with joy and faithfulness, she loved the Franciscan values particularly poverty and lived it with contentment. May she enjoy peace in Paradise.
