Sr. Theresa Paul CHAKKADEN (Sr. Dorothea)


I have fought a good fight.  I have finished the race. I have kept the faith.  From now on there   is reserved for me the crown of righteousness”.

These words of St. Paul were fulfilled in the life of our dear Sr. Theresa Paul who completed her earthly life successfully on 27th June, 2019 at the age of 91.                                                              

She was born on 8th July, 1928 to C.C. Paulose and K.J. Mariam in Chakkaden House, Karur Village in Kerala. Her family was deeply rooted in faith and religious obligations were practiced regularly in the family.

After completion of high school Sstudies, she joined the novitiate in Palluruthy on 9th February 1952 and did her final profession on 15th December 1965 at Palluruthy.  She was trained to be a nurse and did her nurses training in Chennai.

Sr. Treasa has served as a nurse in 5 provinces of India.  Her love for the sick was appreciated by the people wherever she had been. Even in her retired life, she used to be out in mission to care for the sick. She cared for the patients not only with medicine but also with charismatic prayer. She has been an instrument for the conversion of many people. She had great reverence for the priests & supported them with daily prayers. 

 

Though she was suffering from heart Problem, high cholesterol and sugar she  was  very active till she was confined to bed  few months before her death. On Thursday, 27th June she became serious and passed away in the Lord at 7.15 p.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Convent, Kattiparambu.
