Day of prayer and fasting for PEACE in Syria/world

The Pope has issued an urgent call to his 1.2 billion-member church to work – and, above all, to pray – for peace.

The pontiff has called for a "day of fasting and prayer for peace in Syria, the Middle East, and across the entire world" on Saturday, 7 September – "the vigil of the birth of Mary, Queen of Peace."

To underscore the effort, Francis added that an open event would be held then in St Peter's Square from 7pm until midnight Rome time (1-6pm Eastern, 10am-1pm Pacific). Across the globe, meanwhile, Pope Francis   requested "the local churches, the people and the bishop, all together" "to gather and pray for this intention."

Pope invites all Christian denominations, believers of other religions and people of goodwill to join in prayer. Peace is for all. Peace is good. The opposing tactics of terrorism, war and attacks need be replaced by dialogue, reconciliation and love. Peace is urgent.

                                          let there be         ‘NO WAR’
