ST. Joseph the worker

1st  of May is the feast of Saint Joseph the Worker. To capture the devotion to Saint Joseph within the Catholic liturgy, in 1870, Pope Pius IX declared Saint Joseph the patron of the universal Church. In 1955, Pope Pius XII added the feast of Saint Joseph the Worker. This silent saint, who was given the noble task of caring and watching over the Virgin Mary and Jesus, now cares for and watches over the Church and models for all the dignity of human work.

Let us pray for heads of families men and women who through their honest and hard labour are caring for their dependants. The capacity to work and enhance life is a talent endowed by God to human persons. The Creator shares with the creatures His own power so that His creation is cared for, protected and advanced thus providing for the needs and bringing glory to God and happiness to people. Let each one work to the best of one’s capacity with dignity.
