Feast Day Wishes!

Independence Day is an occasion to rejoice in our freedom and to pay collective homage to all those people who sacrificed their lives to the cause. Each year, August 15 gives us the reason to celebrate this, and do much more - it is a time to contemplate what we have and how we achieved it.
Though India had no dearth of religious and community festivals, there was, till Independence, no true national festival that the whole country could partake of. Independence Day, beginning as a day to commemorate the greatest moment in Indian history, has now come to signify a feeling of nationalism, solidarity and celebration.

Wish you all
a very Happy Independence Day!

Is it by some divine coincidence that we celebrate Our (Indian) Independence Day on the same day when the Christian world celebrates the feast of the Assumption of our Blessed Mother? Mary by the way she lived here on earth shows us that a decision to let go of control and entrust one’s life to God opens the door to an inwardly free life. Let us pray to Mary assumed into heaven to intercede for our much loved motherland, the ancient, the eternal and the ever-new, to become truly free.
As Franciscan Missionaries of Mary, we have one more reason to celebrate, for the feast of the Assumption is the feast of our Superior General. May the Queen of Heaven obtain for our dear sister Christiane blessings of good health, Wisdom and deep Peace. We wish you a joyous feast day dear Sr. Christiane! May our loving God bless you abundantly!

“Oh Almighty, create thoughts and actions in the minds of the people of my nation, so that they live united.
Light the minds of the religious leaders of my country to evolve a bridge among religions with compassion and love.
Embed the thought ‘Nation is bigger than the individual or party’ in the minds of the leaders.
May God, bless my people to work and transform the country into a prosperous nation in a decade.”

A.P.J. Abdul  Kalam – former President of India.
