Arise and shine!

The feast of the manifestationis a feast of light. “Arise, shine; for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you” (Is 60:1). He who is the true light, and by whom we too are made to be light, has indeed come into the world. He gives us the power to become children of God (cf. Jn 1:9,12). The journey of the wise men from the East was just the beginning of a great procession that would continue throughout history. With the Wise men, humanity’s pilgrimage to Jesus Christ had begun. This will go on if each one of us will be a true light on their path.

It was on the Feast of the Epiphany (6th Jan 1877) that the first missionary institute for women came into being in the church, hundred and thirty five years ago. The Franciscan Missionaries of Mary thank God for guiding and leading the Institute to the present day and confide the future to the saving hands of the benevolent God.

Lord God, bless us with the joy of being a sparkling light!
