St. Anthony’s Home And High School Celebrates 90 Years Of Grace And Gratitude

St. Anthony’s Girls’ High School has travelled a long way ahead, scaled many heights and crossed many mile stones to celebrate the glorious 90 years of grace and gratitude.   Marking this historic moment, we had a three-day long programme which was the outcome of weeks of hard work and labour.  The Eucharistic celebration presided over by Bishop Percival Fernandez was on the 10th of October 2012, which began at 10.00 a. m. with an Entrance Procession led by the students of the School dancing to the rhythm of a very inspiring music.  We invoked God’s blessing on each and everyone because God’s continual mercy and help has led us to what we are today.  FMM sisters from the neighbouring communities, ex-teachers and students were present along with the sisters of the community, students, and management, teaching and non-teaching staff to witness this grace-filled occasion.

On the 11th October 2012 at 5.00 p.m. the Pre-primary and Primary Annual day was celebrated and we were privileged  to have  Shri. Ashok Bhyri, the Administrative Education Officer as our Chief Guest and Rev. Fr. Vincent Vaz SJ, Parish Priest of St. Anne’s Church, Mazgaon, Mumbai as our Guest of Honour.  Our School Superior and Manager, Sr.Sylvia Sequeira and our Principal, Sr. Maria Selvam led our guests in procession to the beat of our school band and Guard of Honour.  They were welcomed in our traditional Indian style with an Aarti and welcome speech, followed by Prayer dance, a thought-provoking skit, flower dance, fusion dance, presentation of the Pre-primary and Primary report with audio-visuals presenting the 90 years of existence of St. Anthony’s Home and High School, from its conception to this day. The General proficiency awards, scholarships and thanks giving dance, all arrayed in colourful hues gave a delightful aura to the already pleasant atmosphere that hung there in our premises.

The guests and dignitaries were welcomed with light, colours and floral tributes. A symphony of music serenaded by dance and drama performed almost professionally by our students of High School  followed. The Play, ‘St. Anthony, an Instrument of Peace’ drove home the message, how St. Anthony followed the footsteps of Jesus in the pattern of St. Francis of Assisi, spreading peace and harmony.  Releasing of our multi-coloured magazine with messages of our well-wishers and students’ show of literary talents was another focal point of the day, where our students had displayed their creative quotient in the form of prose, poetries, sketches, drawings and puzzles, quizzes and amazing facts.  The distribution of many awards and scholarships was our way of recognizing the outstanding efforts of our students at various fields.  The presentation of the Annual report along with the historic view of the 90 years of St. Anthony’s Home and High School gave us a glimpse of the past and the journey we continue to this day.  It also portrayed students’ skill and style in using their lateral intelligence.  For the past few years we have been blessed with cent percent result in the SSC Board Examination.  The Children who have passed through the portals of the school for the past 90 years are the heart and soul of our institution.

It was delightful to see about 500 students creating a rainbow of colours and contours on the stage.  It was the Hand of God that led us to this day. He has blessed all our efforts.  He will continue to bless us to reach out to those in need with love and sorority.  The pathway ahead is long and winding, we have many more mile stones yet to cross, many ventures yet to begin, but we are sure, that with God’s blessing everything is possible.  Hence, we move...Onward
