A Learning experience

                                         A Learning Experience

Kindling curiosity, nurturing creativity and enhancing the spirit of exploration, experimentation and experiential learning has always been the prime aim of education in Mater Dei School, New Delhi.  We at Mate Dei firmly believe that learning is not confined to the four walls of a classroom.  In fact, field trips, excursions and nature walks outside school premises serve as powerful learning grounds with a variety of unforgettable experiences.  We encourage children to dream big and help foster their scientific acumen.  Keeping this in mind, an educational overseas trip was organized  for the students of our school.  The destination chosen was USA-NASA with New York City and Washington, D.C., and what a wonderful time the students had, participating in all the activities planned for them!

Our students successfully completed a 3-day graduation camp at NASA.  This once-in-a-lifetime journey exposed our students to unique learning opportunities such as Student Astronaut Training Experience (SATX) and conducting space experiments with NASA educators.  The students benefitted a great deal after interacting with NASA scientists, watching 3-D space movies and undertaking a tour of the center.  As a part of the program our students had a memorable lunch with NASA  astronaut Mark Lee who told them about the various challenges astronauts face and humorous and anecdotes from their voyages.  This program further helped our students understand the reasons behind space exploration and the colossal effort that mankind makes in order to delve into a world that is not yet fully comprehensible.  Ed Terra Edventures conducted a pre journey interactive workshop called launchpad that enabled out students to better appreciate and participate in the exploratory activities that they undertook at the NASA Space Camp.

Students also visited two of the most sought after destinations in the USA – Washington, D.C.  New York City.  While they thoroughly enjoyed their visit to the Statue of Liberty in New York, the White House aroused their curiosity in Washington, D.C. Visits Disneyland Park and Universal Studios were not just about stepping into a world of fantasy and limitless fun, but also understanding the technical and artistic skills and power of imagination of the people behind these establishments.

The students have come back transformed from the experience has made them more confident, more expressive and more analytical.
