Lamp lighting ceremony, an auspicious occasion in every nurse’s life is held in reverence to Florence Nightingale or Lady with the Lamp as she is more popularly known, this ceremony initiates the students into the noble profession of nursing, where adorned in their uniforms for the first time, these students hereafter will study and practice in actual medical surroundings.

Lamp Lighting Ceremony for the 9th batch of B.Sc. (N) and 49th batch of G.N.M students took place on 28th November 2014 at Child Jesus College of Nursing, Trichy. Dr.Illaveni K. B.D.S, M.Sc, P.HD ( Anatomy), Lecturer at SRM, Trichy. The programme started at 4.30 p.m with the procession of the 1st year B.Sc.(N) and G.N.M students, faculty, dignitaries and the chief guest, followed by a prayer. The college SNA vice president welcomed the gathering, the students, in the presence of everyone including their parents. They lit their lamps and took the pledge of Florence Nightingale.







The chief guest in her keynote address emphasized the significance of the nurse’s white uniform and the power of nurses. Cultural events by the students emphasized respect for    nature and mother earth and they entertained the gathering. It was appreciated by everyone especially by the proud parents of the 1st year students. The programme ended at 6.30 pm with a vote of thanks followed by College and National Anthem.
