Women trafficking -Kansabel

Youth Symposium on Trafficking in Persons, Rome.

Along with the rate of growth of modernization, the crimes against women and children globally are also on the increase. Human right violations, women trafficking and prostitution is rampant in its worst forms in many nations. Globally numerous institutions, societies and organizations work towards preventing women and girl children from falling prey to traffickers. It is heartening to see globally that having committed to Christian virtues, many young men and women coming forward to join the network.

To spread awareness among youth and emphasize dignity of human persons, Vatican City organized an International Symposium on ‘Young People against Prostitution and Human Trafficking’ from 15-16 of November, 2014 in Vatican City, Rome. It was the joint venture of Pontifical Academy of Social Sciences in association with Argentinean NGO Vinculos en Red and the Global Freedom Network.

Personally it was a unique and enriching experience. Besides a maiden international exposure, it was an opportunity to share AMRAT’s work in India with International Superior Generals (ISG) of 10 of them. Especially in tribal states, interact with other nationalities and learn the similarities that exists around the globe pertaining to human problems. The symposium challenged me to go beyond narrow perspectives so to understand the crux of the issues at broader levels. Besides meeting Pope and receiving his apostolic blessings, I found within me a renewed energy and strength to be committed to this ministry back home.

On the lighter side, the hospitality and the generosity of our Generalate enabled me to go around the city, visit important churches and places of interest. Moreover, I was able to visit Assisi and the places of our beloved Foundress. I express my gratitude to the Generalate community sisters especially Srs.Gemma and Annie Sebastian. Finally I would like to acknowledge my sincere thanks to our Provincial, Rev.Sr. Taurina for her untiring moral supports and encouragements toward this Apostolate.
