AFMM Regional get - together at St.Dominic’s Convent

This the third regional meeting of the AFMMs of the Chennai region. The first was held in Holy Angels, second in St. Thomas Mylapore and now in St.Dominics.  Sr.Christine Antony called for meeting of those incharge of the AFMM groups along with the provincial councillor, Sr.Dulcy, discussed and planned for the day and shared responsibilities with different units. Each unit prepared the members for the promise. Sr.Angel Mary prepared the aims and objectives of the FMM Associates and asked us to discuss it in the smaller units, ask for clarification or express difference of opinion. The Promise Card was prepared by the Holy Angels’ unit.

 

It was a day of joy, for the AFMMs to come together for the special reason of making their promise after long years of membership. AFMM Regional get-together was held at St.Dominc’s Convent on 14th March 2015. Sr.Dulcy welcomed the gathering and began the meeting with a prayer, conducted by the St.Thomas Convent unit. Sr.Angel Mary presented the formulation of the“Vision and Objectives of AFMMs”, after giving a short history of the evolution of each unit. All the members accepted it by show of hands. Sr.Rose Grace spoke about the “The presence of AFMM in other countries” conducted a short adoration in preparation to make the promise.

It was a touching moment, when the representative from each unit shared their personal and group experiences of being AFMM. How they are helped to live Christian lives better. The ceremony of commitment began with a hymn to the Holy Spirit. Sr.Leena D’Souza FMM, Provincial Superior of Chennai province, invited the AFMMs to make their promise. All came forward and pronounced the promise. The FMM community accepted the promise made by AFMMs. Sr.Leena presented a symbol to the AFMMs and addressed the gathering. A vote of thanks was given by the Holy Angels’ unit thanking our provincial, the organizing committee and the community of St. Dominics for their generous service and ended with magnificat. All of us enjoyed the sumptuous lunch together in the campus.
