Save Girls ... Save Women ... A New Cry!



‘We need to take every possible step to save Girls and Women and empower them through Education’ asserted Dr. Raman Singh, the honorable Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh State as he honoured and conferred awards to Sr. Annie Jesus FMM, the Directress of Jeevan Jharna Vikas Sanstha (JJVS), on the eve of International Women’s day on 8th March 2016 at Indore stadium, Raipur the capital city. She is the only religious person recognized among seven great women of the year in the presence of other administrators and hundreds of women from across the State.


Sr. Annie, the Directress of JJVS and her committed team has been spearheading to curb the menace of human trafficking through awareness programs, workshops and trainings the team provides close accompaniment to the trafficked and their families in filing FIR and rescuing them from the metropolitan cities. The team investigates placement details of the trafficked and assists the enforcement authorities to put the agents behind the bars. For the last five years the team has covered 71 panchayats, 180 villages, 63 schools, 5 Blocks and state level trainings and workshops. Further, more than 100 Girls have been rescued and rehabilitated in the Adivasi society.


In a jointly organized programme by Women and Child welfare Department (WCD) and Social Welfare Board (SWB), Mr. Abhishek singh, Member of Parliament (Son of the honorable Chief Minister Dr. Raman Singh) honored Sr.Annie for her dynamic and selfless service to the marginalized people on 27th March 2016 at Shri Kovind Ram Nirmalkar Statuiam Rajnandgao, Chhattisgarh.  JJVS has been taking up all round efforts to empower Tribal girls and women through promotion of SHGs, enhance livelihood options through Agri and Allied activities and ensure quality education through applying Right to Education Act (RTEA).
As these awards add feathers to the cap, I and the team feel not only recognized and honored but also equally challenged to keep up our determination and commitment ever fresh to lighten the lives of the illiterate, ignorant and indigent Adivasi community in the coming days.
