Life Shared

To Navadeep Community

A call to Religious way of life is both a gift and a mystery. It is indeed demanding and challenging to answer the call of the Beloved.

April 17th was a joyful and memorable day in the history of St.Joseph?s Catholic Church, Ferrargunj and for the Navadeep Community. It was the final Profession of Sr. Soshan Alka Baa, the only daughter among three brothers of the soil pronounced her final commitment with the theme "Here I am Lord, I have come to do your will".

Past months were days of prayer and preparation for the sisters and parishioners to witness the great event of Final Commitment. It was very exciting for everyone in our parish, so the parishioners were very enthusiastic to take up the task and to go forward to make the day memorable in the life of every person who witnessed the event.

"God is so good. He does wonders in His own ways" this is our experience right now. Almost three months we took to prepare for this event, the appointed day came to add joy to the Franciscan family as well as the parishioners of Ferrarrgunj parish. We the fmms were very happy to lead one of our sisters for her final commitment by a life of witness. The arrival of FMM Sisters and candidates namely Srs. Sushila, Rosily Stanilaus, Cresen,  Sobha, Sunitha and three candidates increased our joy of celebration. Their contribution for the occasion was great and appreciated very much.

On the day of profession the church was packed with Priests, Sisters and the faithful. The Rt. Rev. Bishop Alex Dias sfx, Bishop of Port Blair diocese was the main celebrant who solemnized the Divine Meal of Eucharistic celebration.  Sr. Soshan was led to the altar of the Lord with traditional dance of the place along with her parents, Fmm sisters, priests and the main celebrant. The most touching part of the celebration was the moment of offering, when Sr. Soshan?s parents brought her towards the altar of the Lord to surrender their daughter totally.  Though Sr. Soshan?s father had difficulties in walking yet he came forward to lead his daughter for her final commitment. The entire ceremony was meaningful and it was the moment of rekindling the hearts of the faithful who were gathered to witness the ceremony. We could feel the power of the Holy Spirit being present especially at the time of invoking the Spirit. The people could witness the gracefulness being filled on Sr. Soshan?s face throughout the ceremony.

On the whole the celebration had great impact in the hearts of the faithful. They had no words to express their joy of witnessing such a grace filled event. We are very grateful for all the support we received from the sisters of Chennai Province as well as Delhi Province.
