The Franciscan Missionaries of Mary Social Service Society (FMMSSS), located at Immaculate Convent, Hanamkonda, Telangana, is a registered non-governmental organization belonging to the Assunta Region. With its legal standing under FCRA, FMMSSS has been actively engaged in grassroots initiatives led by the FMM sisters, focusing on the holistic development of women, youth, and children. At the heart of its mission lies a deep commitment to the protection and promotion of children’s rights.

FMMSSS functions through a dedicated office and field teams that work tirelessly to empower women, promote girl child education, and support youth development. Its interventions address pressing social issues such as the prevention of human trafficking, awareness on HIV/AIDS, and protection of the environment. The organization places special emphasis on creating safe environments for children by collaborating with government departments such as the police, women and child welfare, and labour, as well as with Child Safe Organizations (CSOs) and religious leaders.

Over the years, FMMSSS has established  parent–children clubs and initiated skill training programs for women and adolescent girls. It has been at the forefront of preventing child and human trafficking, educating orphan children, and forming Parent–Caregiver Associations. The training of Youth Ambassadors has brought about a transformative impact by mobilizing young people as advocates for change in their communities.

The Society’s strong focus on ending child marriages, trafficking, and sexual exploitation has resulted in several significant interventions, including the rescue and rehabilitation of vulnerable children. Through its wide network of community awareness programs, FMMSSS has reached families, youth, and children with education and protection initiatives, while also sensitizing officials and stakeholders to strengthen grassroots child protection systems.

Alongside child rights, FMMSSS has worked to advance women’s economic independence through Job-Oriented Vocational Training (JOVT). This initiative has provided many women with sustainable livelihood opportunities, empowering them to lead lives of dignity and resilience.

The dedication and networking efforts of FMMSSS have been widely recognized. On 15th August 2025, during the 79th Independence Day celebrations, the District Magistrate conferred upon FMMSSS the prestigious award for “Best Services to Humanity.” Receiving this honour in the presence of dignitaries, political leaders, achievers, and the general public was a moment of great pride and joy for the organization.

The Society remains ever grateful to its Regional Superior, Sr. Romaldine Rebello, and her Council for their unwavering guidance and support. Above all, FMMSSS acknowledges with deep gratitude the providence of God, whose spirit continues to inspire its mission of service.
